Pena's eighth-place finish leads Jaguars at RRAC Tournament

VICTORIA, Texas – The Texas A&M University–San Antonio men's golf team finished in fourth place at the Red River Athletic Conference tournament that concluded Tuesday.

At the Victoria Country Club, the Jaguars finished with a three-round score of 956 after shooting a collective 328 in the final round of the event Tuesday.

Freshman golfer Jacob Pena led the Jaguars during the tournament as he finished eighth on the individual leaderboard with a three-round score of 16-over-par 232. His Tuesday score of 76 led the Jaguars and only three individuals carded scores lower than 76 in the final round.

A native of Victoria, Texas, Pena's 232 led all freshmen competitors at the tournament; he is among the short list of men's golfers being considered for the conference's Freshman of the Year award.

Ethan Perez and David Rodriguez were also among the top 15 individuals. Perez, who shot 74 in Monday's second round, carded an 83 Tuesday to give him a three-round score 239, good for 14th place.

Rodriguez finished in 15th place with a 241. He shot a 77 to lead the Jaguars in Monday's opening round.

Alejandro Guarneros shot 251 for the tournament to round out the Jaguars team score. Javier Jazo shot 254 for the Jaguars.

Houston–Victoria won the event with a team score of 885. Louisiana Christian finished four strokes ahead of A&M–San Antonio to take third place, while Our Lady of the Lake took second place.
