Jaguar Women Drop Season Finale To Saints

San Antonio, TX- Texas A&M–San Antonio women's soccer came up just short in a 3–2 loss to Our Lady of the Lake on Saturday afternoon, as sophomore forward Samara Lopez netted both goals for the Jaguars in a spirited conference matchup.

Lopez opened the scoring in the 34th minute, striking just one minute after entering the match to give A&M–San Antonio an early 1–0 advantage. The Saints answered quickly, leveling the score two minutes later through Leah Tapia, assisted by Eleonora Diversi.

Our Lady of the Lake surged ahead early in the second half when Diversi converted a penalty kick in the 48th minute to make it 2–1. Tapia added her second goal of the match in the 55th minute, assisted by Grace Reed and Hannah Brookfield, extending the Saints' lead to 3–1.

Lopez kept the Jaguars within reach, scoring again in the 77th minute to cut the deficit to 3–2, but A&M–San Antonio couldn't find the equalizer despite a strong push late in the half.

Goalkeeper Vendela Lantz turned in a standout performance with 10 saves, keeping the Jaguars in the match against a high-volume OLLU attack that produced 20 shots and 14 on goal. Ana Barragán led A&M–San Antonio with four shots, while Skylar Parker added two.

The Jaguars totaled nine shots with five on target and were issued one yellow card in the second half. The Saints received a caution of their own in the 58th minute.

A&M–San Antonio (2 goals, 9 shots, 10 saves) finished their season on a strong note, and they will look to use that momentum going into the off-season.
