Barragan’s Four-Goal Outburst Powers Jaguars Past Texas College
Tyler, TX- The A&M–San Antonio women's soccer team had a convincing 7–1 road victory over Texas College on Thursday afternoon.
Texas College briefly stunned the visitors early, opening the scoring in the 2nd minute when Abigail Escobedo found the back of the net off an assist from Jocelyn Mejia Arias, giving the Steers a 1–0 lead. From there, it was all A&M–San Antonio. Ana Barragán equalized in the 14th minute, sparking an offensive surge. Dani Alegría put the Jaguars ahead in the 24th minute, and Barragán struck again at 34:17, assisted by Avry Scott, to make it 3–1 heading into halftime.
The Jaguars kept their foot on the gas after the break. Amily Rodriguez scored less than two minutes into the second half (46:51) off a Barragán assist. Shannon Best added another in the 56th minute, also assisted by Barragán. Barragán wasn't finished—she completed her four-goal performance with strikes in the 62nd and 64th minutes, assisted by Alegría and the team, respectively. Her explosive outing (4 goals, 2 assists) led an offense that outshot Texas College 19–2, including 12 shots on goal.
