Jaguars Get Downed By Lions

Waxahachie, TX- What has been a heavily front-loaded schedule for the Jaguar women's soccer team, did not get any easier for the Jaguars as they fell 3-0 to a tough Lions squad from Nelson University (NAIA, Sooner Athletic Conference).

From the beginning the Lions dictated the pace of the game by pressing early and often and for the most part kept the Jaguars off balance. In what is becoming a theme, however, the Jaguars played sound defense early on turning away more than a dozen shots before finally conceding a goal at the 39:39 mark.

In the second half, the Lions got off to a quick start putting another goal on the board at the 48:39 mark, putting the Jaguars behind 2-0. The Jaguars settled back in on defense and sustained some continuity for a time, but the Lions were able to get a third goal in at the 79:07 mark,

Jaguar goalkeeper, Isabella Villarreal (JR, San Antonio) finished the game with 10 saves while only allowing three goals.

Head Coach Tim Moody said, "We faced a touch match against Nelson. The loss was disappointing, but it served as a valuable learning experience for us. Going forward, it's crucial that we continue to work and to take ownership of each respective role within the structure of our team. If we stay committed to the process, and keep learning from games like this, we will eventually find success."
