TAMUSA's Barragan, Abdeljaber monopolize RRAC women's soccer weekly awards

Waco, Texas – Ana Barragan of Texas A&M University-San Antonio earned the RRAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award for Oct. 9-15, and her teammate, Maram Abdeljaber, was selected as the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week for the same dates. This is the eighth set of conference awards for the 2023 women's soccer season.

Barragan accounted for all of the Jaguars' goals in the team's 2-0 week. The sophomore forward from Brownsville, Texas, registered a hat trick in TAMUSA's 3-1 win over North American University (Texas) on Thursday. Barragan also scored the lone goal of the game as the Jaguars edged Xavier University (La.), 1-0. She has netted 12 goals in conference play and is tied for the league lead with 13 for the season. TAMUSA improved to 5-1-3 in RRAC play and 6-1-3 overall.

Abdeljaber made 10 saves to earn wins over both NAU and Xavier. The goalkeeper from El Paso, Texas, earned the shutout over Xavier with eight critical saves. Abdeljaber leads the RRAC with a 0.37 goals against average and an .885 save percentage.
