Jaguars Top Texarkana, Set Stage for Showdown with LSU-Shreveport
Texarkana, TX- Texas A&M University–San Antonio picked up an important 69–61 victory over Texas A&M–Texarkana on Thursday, continuing its momentum and setting the stage for a pivotal matchup Saturday against LSU-Shreveport.
The Jaguars were led by a strong offensive night from Kierra Sanderlin, who poured in a game-high 20 points to pace A&M–San Antonio. Evelyn Lorenzo provided a major boost as well, finishing with 18 points, as the Jaguars placed consistent pressure on the Texarkana defense throughout the contest.
A&M–San Antonio built its edge with balanced scoring and timely shooting, knocking down key baskets to keep Texarkana at bay down the stretch. Aniyah Lewis added nine points, while Hailee Brandon chipped in seven points. TaMya Whitemon contributed six points, highlighted by a perfect night from beyond the arc, and the Jaguars also received contributions from Zaadiyah Stovall and Maya Simon, who each scored four points.
Defensively, the Jaguars limited Texarkana's scoring runs and controlled the tempo late, making key stops and free throws to secure the eight-point win.
