Jaguars Open New Facility With Sweep of Panhandle State

San Antonio, TX-  Texas A&M University–San Antonio christened its new softball facility in memorable fashion, earning a pair of victories over Oklahoma Panhandle State in the first home softball games ever played at the venue.

The Jaguars opened the day with a dominant 8–0 win in Game 1, then completed the doubleheader sweep with a 4–3 victory in Game 2, giving the program a perfect start on its new home field.

Game 1: A&M–San Antonio 8, Oklahoma Panhandle State 0

A&M–San Antonio set the tone early in the home opener, jumping out to a lead and never looking back. The Jaguars backed their offense with an outstanding performance in the circle from Krisilyn Corral, who tossed a complete-game shutout.

Corral worked 5.0 innings, allowing just three hits while striking out seven and issuing no walks. She completed the game in 78 pitches to secure the win, giving the Jaguars their first victory in the new facility in emphatic fashion.

Game 2: A&M–San Antonio 4, Oklahoma Panhandle State 3

The second game proved more dramatic, but the Jaguars again delivered in front of the home crowd. A&M–San Antonio fell behind the Aggies early but came back to wallk-off the Aggies to complete the sweep.

Sari Travis earned the start in Game 2, throwing 4.0 innings and striking out three. Hannah Schultz and Krisilyn Corral combined out of the bullpen to shut the door, with Corral recording the win after tossing 2.0 scoreless innings and striking out four on just a handfull of pitches.

The Jaguars' pitching staff limited Oklahoma Panhandle State to three runs and came through with timely outs down the stretch to secure the program's first-ever win streak at its new home.

The doubleheader sweep marked a milestone moment for A&M–San Antonio softball, as the Jaguars celebrated both a successful home opener and the beginning of a new era in their own facility.
