Six softball players named NFCA Scholar-Athletes
SAN ANTONIO – Six players from Texas A&M University–San Antonio's softball team were honored as All-America Scholar-Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), the school announced Wednesday.
Madeline Arellano, Korrie Cantu, Vanessa Garces, Melissa Gonzalez, Natalia Guajardo, and Megan Lightcap were the six Jaguars recognized by the NFCA.
To be recognized as a Scholar-Athlete, a student athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale for the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters.
The Jaguars completed their inaugural varsity softball season in 2021, as one of two teams that launched A&M–San Antonio's intercollegiate athletics program.
