UHV sweeps Sunday doubleheader from A&M-San Antonio

VICTORIA, Texas – The Jaguars of Texas A&M University–San Antonio were competitive Sunday but dropped both games of a doubleheader at Houston–Victoria.

UHV's Jaguars won game one by a score of 2-1, and then claimed a five-inning, 11-3 victory in game two.

In the opening game, A&M–San Antonio tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fifth inning when Felicity Alamillo (San Antonio, Texas / Coastal Bend College) knocked an RBI single to score Kameryn Casares (Edinburg, Texas / Vela) from second base. It was Alamillo's first hit and first RBI in a Jaguar uniform.

UHV reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning and held on for the win.

Ebbie Rodriguez (Helotes, Texas / Angelina College) scattered six hits over six innings while striking out four UHV batters for A&M–San Antonio.

In game two, UHV took advantage of three first-inning errors to take an early 2-0 lead, and then scored six runs in the bottom of the third to stretch its lead to 11-1. Casares and Gabi Mitchell (San Antonio, Texas / Texas A&M International) knocked RBIs in the top of the fifth inning for A&M–San Antonio, but the visiting Jaguars could not stretch the game any farther.

Casares, Mitchell, Sidney Garza (San Antonio, Texas / Ranger College), and Vanessa Garces (Edinburg, Texas / Coastal Bend College) each knocked two hits apiece for the visiting Jaguars in game two. Caty Rangel (Austin, Texas / Ranger College) knocked a sacrifice fly in top of the second inning.
