Jaguars fall in doubleheader at Our Lady of the Lake
SAN ANTONIO – Our Lady of the Lake completed a four-game, home-and-home doubleheader sweep of the Jaguars of Texas A&M University–San Antonio, winning by scores of 7-1 and 5-1 Sunday.
The Jaguars (9-18) managed to avoid the shutout in each game by scoring runs in the seventh inning.
In the opening game, a three-run fourth inning for the Saints gave the home team a comfortable lead. A&M–San Antonio's Clarisa Montelongo (Houston, Texas / Challenge Early College HS) recorded her first collegiate RBI with a seventh-inning single that scored Felicity Alamillo (San Antonio, Texas / Coastal Bend College).
The opening game gave Our Lady of the Lake sweep of the teams' three-game Red River Athletic Conference series. The Jaguars fell to 3-9 in RRAC play.
The second game of the doubleheader was a non-conference clash. In that game, Messiah San Miguel (Pleasanton, Texas / Laredo College) came through with a pinch-hit, RBI groundout to score Kameryn Casares (Edinburg, Texas / Vela) for the Jaguars' lone run.
A&M–San Antonio returns to action next Monday, April 26, when they open a three-game series at LSU–Alexandria. First pitch in Monday's doubleheader is scheduled for noon.
