Jaguars Blank Rams

Round Rock, TX- Playing their second match in just three days, the Jaguar men's soccer team traveled to the Austin area and defeated former conference foe Huston Tillotson University 3-0. The win brings the Jaguars to 2-0-1 on the season marking one of their better starts in the relatively short history of Jaguar soccer.

The match started off with the Jaguars typical high intensity and pressure putting the Rams on their heels. For much of the first half, though, the Rams were successful at keeping it out of their goal. That ended at the 36:36 mark, however, when Clever Sibomana (David Torres and Eduardo Hernandez, assists) put one in giving the Jaguars a 1-0 lead. Shortly after the Jaguars got on the board again with a Jesus Pernia goal (Joshua Olivares, assist) just before half-time at the 43:58 mark. The first half ended with the Jaguars holding a 2-0 lead.

The second half was more friendly to the Rams as they came out with a bit more intensity than the first half, and they were able to generate a bit more offense throughout the second half. In fact, the Rams only recorded two shots in the first half, while in the second half they were able to produce eight. Yet, the Rams were not able to put any shots on target, and the Jaguars would put the finishing touches on a 3-0 win with a Ronald Aguilar goal (Joshua Olivares, assist) at the 82:53 mark, which was his third goal in just two matches.

Head Coach Roberto Jaramillo commented, "Having just played Nelson on Tuesday, I was a bit worried about fatigue, but we showed up well enough, and getting a couple of guys back that we did not have on Tuesday certainly did not hurt. I was pleased with having so many different guys get involved with the scoring to include assists. We will have a week now to get our legs back and to keep improving."
