Jaguars Battle in the Toughest Test of the Season
The Texas A&M University–San Antonio men’s golf team faced one of the most demanding challenges in program history this week, competing against a strong field of nationally ranked programs under extremely difficult conditions.
Battling freezing temperatures, heavy winds, and the most challenging course setup the team has encountered to date, the Jaguars showed resilience and competitiveness throughout the event. A&M–San Antonio finished seventh overall with a three-round total of +106, highlighted by an outstanding second-round performance of +29 — the second-lowest team score recorded in that round across the entire field.
Despite the tough finish, the numbers tell a deeper story about the level of competition. Across the tournament, the average team score per round was +13.06, with players averaging just +3.27 over par individually — a reflection of just how punishing the course and conditions were for every team in the field.
Competing head-to-head with several nationally ranked programs, the Jaguars proved they can hold their own at a high level. Their performance was recognized nationally, as A&M–San Antonio climbed 12 spots in the rankings to No. 67 following the event.
