Despite Heroic Effort From Gonzales, Jaguars Fall To OLLU
San Antonio, TX- Texas A&M University–San Antonio turned in a competitive effort on the offensive end but could not slow Our Lady of the Lake University down late, falling 100–89 in Red River Conference men's basketball action.
The Jaguars went into halftime trailing by just four, 52–48, after matching the Saints' tempo throughout the opening 20 minutes. A&M–San Antonio remained within reach early in the second half, but OLLU pulled away behind efficient shooting and timely scoring runs.
Antwone Gonzales filled the stat sheet with 29 points, three assists, two rebounds, two steals and a block, while also drawing contact at the line with 13 free-throw attempts. Dezmon Dudley logged a team-high 35 minutes, contributing four assists and four steals, providing a steady presence on both ends of the floor.
In the frontcourt, Felix Greif led the Jaguars on the glass with seven rebounds, including five offensive boards, adding a block and an assist. Xzavier Brown also made an impact inside, finishing with five rebounds and two blocks.
Gabriel Til chipped in six rebounds, while Carson Brown added two rebounds and an assist. The Jaguars continued to pressure defensively, finishing with multiple steals across the rotation.
Despite the loss, A&M–San Antonio showed resilience and depth against a strong conference opponent, moving the ball well and competing throughout the contest.
The Jaguars will look to build on their effort as Red River Conference play continues.
