Jaguars Pull Away Late to Beat Texas College 76–69 on the Road
Tyler, TX- Texas A&M–San Antonio used a dominant second half and a balanced offensive attack to earn a 76–69 road victory over Texas College on Thursday night, improving to 4–6 overall and 3–1 in RRAC play.
After trailing 31–28 at halftime, the Jaguars erupted for 48 second-half points, flipping the momentum behind improved shooting and timely defensive pressure. A&M–San Antonio shot 50.9% from the field for the night, including 7 made threes, while holding Texas College to just 24 total turnovers.
Antwone Gonzales and Dezmon Dudley led the Jaguars with 16 points apiece. Gonzales knocked down two threes and added two steals, while Dudley provided relentless attacking energy, finishing 10-of-11 from the free throw line.
Forward Felix Greif delivered one of his most efficient performances of the season, scoring 13 points on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting while adding three rebounds and an assist. Carson Brown sparked the offense in the second half with all 9 of his points after the break, including a key three-pointer during the Jaguars' run.
Xzavier Brown contributed across the stat sheet with 8 points, 3 steals, and 3 rebounds, while Joseph Taylor added 8 points and a pair of threes in just 13 minutes.
Despite Texas College shooting an impressive 54.5% from the field, the Jaguars controlled other key areas—outscoring the Steers 36–22 in the paint and converting 22 points off turnovers. A&M–San Antonio's bench also came up big, delivering 29 points to help fuel the comeback.
Texas College was led by a spectacular performance from Wayne Green, who scored 28 points on 11-of-12 shooting, including four made threes. Tyrone Woods added 11 points and 7 rebounds, but the Steers could not overcome their turnovers and A&M–San Antonio's surge in the final minutes.
The Jaguars built their largest lead of the night—a nine-point cushion—with under a minute to play, closing out the contest at the free-throw line to secure the conference victory.
