Jaguars Edged 63–62 in Late Battle With Paul Quinn

San Antonio, TX- Texas A&M–San Antonio came up just one point short in a hard-fought 63–62 loss to Paul Quinn College early Sunday morning at home. The Jaguars led for more than 23 minutes of game time and held an eight-point advantage, but a cold stretch late in the second half allowed the Tigers to climb back and steal the road victory.

First Half – Jaguars Control Early

A&M–San Antonio used a strong opening stretch to take control, scoring in the paint and generating fast-break opportunities. Felix Greif sparked the start with an early dunk and layup, while Paul Minjoth knocked down a transition three to give the Jaguars an 11–4 lead.

Carson Brown continued the push with an active first half, posting 8 points before the break. Despite 10 turnovers in the opening period, TAMUSA matched PQC shot for shot and went into halftime with a 31–30 lead.

Second Half – Back-and-Forth Battle

The second half mirrored the first: tight defense, physical play inside, and minimal separation between the teams. A&M–San Antonio received a major lift from Aaron Harden, who delivered all 6 of his points after the break on perfect shooting.

Brown added two second-half threes to finish with a team-high 16 points, while Fotis Hristopoulos brought energy off the bench with 7 points and 7 rebounds. Dezmon Dudley directed the offense with 6 assists.

The Jaguars held a narrow lead entering the closing minutes, but Paul Quinn capitalized at the free-throw line and on the offensive glass to inch ahead. A&M–San Antonio had a final opportunity in the closing seconds but could not convert.

Team Numbers

Despite the loss, the Jaguars posted several positives:

  • Bench points: 26

  • Fast-break points: 18

  • Points in the paint: 28

  • Rebounds: 43 (13 offensive)

However, TAMUSA was hindered by 14 turnovers, 19% shooting from three, and foul trouble that sent Paul Quinn to the line 29 times.
