Jaguars Grind Out Road Win Over Stanton, 68–64
Santa Clarita, CA- Texas A&M–San Antonio men's basketball held off a late surge to earn a hard-fought 68–64 road victory over Stanton (CA) on Saturday afternoon.
The Jaguars jumped out early with a strong first half, building a 37–31 lead behind hot shooting from deep and balanced scoring across the lineup. Senior guard Dezmon Dudley led the way with 20 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including three 3-pointers and a near-perfect 7-of-8 from the line. His steady hand in the second half helped the Jaguars fend off Stanton's comeback bid.
Fellow starter Paul Minjoth added 14 points, all coming from the perimeter as he hit four triples on 5-of-10 shooting. Felix Greif posted 10 points and six rebounds before fouling out, while Xzavier Brown contributed 10 boards, two blocks, and two steals to anchor the defense. Fotis Hristopoulos chipped in six points and three assists, and Carson Brown provided a spark off the bench with six points in just six minutes.
The Jaguars outrebounded Stanton 42–37 and converted 18-of-23 free throws (78%) to seal the win despite committing 20 turnovers. A&M–San Antonio built its largest lead at 12 points midway through the second half before Stanton closed the gap late.
For Stanton, Israel Goldsmith led all scorers with 23 points and eight rebounds, while Jermaine Patton Jr. added 13 points and six rebounds. The home team shot 38.6% from the floor but couldn't overcome A&M–San Antonio's rebounding edge and timely shooting.
